Randomness

Why is it that most Olympic sports are only popular during the Olympics? No one gives a crap about ski jumping or speed skating or bobsledding at any other time. But suddenly, once every four years, we're glued to the TV rooting for the American team...probably not having any clue who's actually on it. Or if we do know who the team members are, we soon forget about them after the games are over. Just wondering why.

My iPod stopped working the other day. Well...maybe "stopped working" isn't the right way to put it. It's more like my approximately 750 songs...disappeared. Seriously. I picked it up, turned it on, and...nothing. Everything was gone. How the hell did that happen? No one else has touched it. It hasn't been hooked up to a computer in months. I had listened to music only a week before. There is no plausible explanation. I called Apple and even they didn't know and suggested I take it to an Apple store. Good luck finding one of those in Montana. Maybe it's a sign that I should get one of the video iPods.

The heat went out in the house I live in. The upstairs thermostat just stopped working. I woke up the other morning, crawled out of bed, shivered, and then saw my breath leave my body. That's not acceptable. You shouldn't be seeing your breath inside your own bedroom. So I went to Costco and bought a space heater since the problem wasn't supposed to be fixed til Monday. It worked well. And then, with our thermostat ripped off the wall and lying in pieces on the floor...the heat started working. Now it won't turn off. So I find myself in the awkward position of baking in my bedroom with the temperature hovering around 10 degrees outside. Irritating.

I love Wal-Mart. I know I'm not supposed to. I know the people who run it are evil, evil people. I know they've completely changed the landscape of worldwide business...and not for the better. But everything they sell is....so....damn....cheap. I can run to Albertson's and buy a box of Great Grains cereal for $4.78. Or I can get the same box at Wal-Mart for $2.45. I can stop by the gas station and buy a gallon of milk for $4.69. Or I can buy the same gallon at Wal-Mart for $2.58. It's amazingly affordable. I'm sorry everyone. I feel like I'm supporting terrorism or something but I just can't help it. Forgive me.

That's all for now. Adios.
