Sensitivity, overreaction, and guilt

I was at the gym Monday morning when the news of the Virginia Tech shootings came blaring across all the TV's in the cardio area. I immediately thought of the "Guns are cool" post I wrote a few days ago. I felt guilty. So I removed it when I got home.

I've since put it back up. I don't want to write about gun rights and how guns should be viewed in light of the rampage. I just know that taking the post down seemed like the right thing to do. I intended to put it back up anyway.

Some whacko decided to slaughter 32 people. He used two guns to do that. I'm sure there's something to be said for more gun control. I won't get into that now. But as far as my previous post goes...it's still accurate. There was something cool about shooting a gun. I hope that doesn't make me insensitive.

I don't think you are insensitive. You didn't shoot those people. That jerk did. Just because you like shooting guns doesn't mean you would go onto a college campus (or anywhere else for that matter) and kill 32 people and then yourself. You are a good person. And I like you.

There, does that make you feel better? It should.
