Bozeman Vice

It was cold, rainy, and snowy today in Bozeman. So I wore a sweater to work. Around 5:30, I walked into closet at work to get ready for the 6 o'clock newscast. Jenny, my co-anchor, was in there. Jokingly, I say, "I'm just gonna wear this jacket with a sweater tonight." She looked at me and said, "You should." I was puzzled. I got my jacket, put it on, and looked in the mirror. Hmm. "Should I do this?" I said to myself. In the end I did. Here's what it looked like.

I polled nearly a dozen people before I went on the air. All the girls said, "go for it." The guys, including myself, were skeptical. In fact, I was the only one skeptical. The other guys were against it. But I went ahead with it. No one called the station like they did when Jenny wore a men's necktie.

I probably wouldn't wear something like that at a bigger television station in a bigger city. But hey, this is Bozeman...market 192 out of 210 markets. On top of that, Bozeman is a casual, laid-back town.

What do you all think? Do I look completely ridiculous? Do you care what a news anchor wears? Can I do this again? Be honest.

I think it looks great, nice to see something different. Unless, of course, you're wearing a white coat on the weather porch. I don't know why, but I just hate that. Or him.

Looks good. I'd do it again.

I applaud your giving it a go, but I think news ANCHORS need the coat and tie. Like lawyers appearing in court.

But damn, I wish it weren't that way. I'd like to wear patchwork madras shorts to court.

p.s. I echo bellum on the white sport coat bit.
